Randy Hess was well known throughout the Wood River Valley and Idaho’s whitewater community as both a dear friend, paddler and owner of White Otter Adventures, a rafting outfitter and guide service based out of Hailey and Stanley.
This sculpture on Fourth Street, between Main Street and Leadville Avenue, was commissioned after Hess passed away in 2008.
“River Song,” cast in bronze by Bruce Smith, a nationally recognized, award-winning sculptor and friend of Hess’, created the piece as an abstract representation of the beauty and power of a wild river.
